Groot Constantia, established in 1685, is the oldest wine-producing estate in South Africa. Its Orientation Centre in the Jonkershuis complex consists of panels, objects and archaeological displays, giving an overview of Groot Constantia from the past to present, including slavery on the estate.
The Manor House, with its exhibition of fine furniture, paintings, textiles, ceramics, brass, and copperware, gives an insight into the life of a well-to-do Cape farming family of the late 18th to early 19th century. The Coach House in the Jonkershuis complex has a display of carriages, while the Wine Museum in the historical wine cellar contains an exhibition of fascinating wine storage and drinking vessels from antiquity to the early 20th century.
