Officially opened on 14th February 1964, now 45 years later the museum exhibits some of the most interesting and rare Land Transport vehicles used in Southern Africa. The displays take you through a time that defines an era of the past, showing various advancements in the modes of transport, technological changes of the internal combustion engine which invokes an opening to the future. A further journey on transport and notable milestones from 1900 to the present day is displayed in the North Hall in the form of a time line, depicting South Africa’s changes with significant themes and memories.

Special Exhibitions: Mobile ECD Bus with exhibits of various themes of Road Safety, Emergency vehicles, Bicycles and Motorcycles and Steam Vehicles. Diski Striker: A Mobile exhibit around the 2010 World Cup depicting - Origins of Soccer, History of the Soccer Ball and Soccer Boot, previous World Cup Winners, Mascots from previous World Cups and some interesting stats of Soccer.

The Mobile vehicles can be booked through our Education Department should you wish for them to visit your School, Club or Institution.
