The magnificent world-famous Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden is the jewel in the crown of the Floral Kingdom and is regarded as one of the top seven botanical gardens in the world.

Spread out below Table Mountain against the majestic backdrop of Castle Rock, the Garden has one of the most spectacular locations for a botanical garden in an urban setting. Home to an amazing 5 000 species of South African plants, the Garden has many interesting attractions, from the remnants of a hedge planted by Van Riebeeck in 1660 to the giant baobab tree under the hi-tech roofline of the Botanical Society Conservatory.

Guided garden tours are led by volunteer guides, while mini-tours by club car allow visitors to explore the Garden at a more leisurely pace. Outdoor music concerts, sculpture and art exhibitions, flower shows and craft markets are held throughout the year.
