Madiba House was the last place of incarceration for Nelson Mandela, the place where negotiations between the Apartheid Government and the Liberation movement were facilitated, and where the foundation for a free South Africa was laid. Nelson Mandela took his first steps to Freedom from Drakenstein Prison (the then Victor Verster Prison), right here on the doorstep of Paarl.
