Matlosana/Klerksdorp is located on the National N12 Treasure Route which leads from Cape Town all the way through to OR Thambo InternationalAirport in Johannesburg.

The city has added value in a number of heritage sites located in and around the City of Matlosana. It has a treasure chest of quaint historical features:

Mfana Majova Freedom Square – Visit a unique statue of Mfana Majova, who was a commander in the camps of MK in Angola during the struggle years.

Archbishop Desmond Tutu – Desmond Tutu is a Nobel laureate who was born in Makoeteng, in what used to be a township and is now a prominent suburb of the city. The City of Matlosana is proud to be the birthsite of this prominent figure who continuously promotes world peace, truth and reconciliation.

Transport Museum – The museum is home to a variety of vintage vehicles dating back to the 19th century. The museum is still in the process of acquiring unique vehicles to complete the collection.

Tswana Hut – Let the City of Matlosana’s unique and compelling cultural diversity fill your heart and mind and become your journey to our Chest of Treasures.

Bosworth Farm – The 200 rock engravings at Bosworth Farm are among the first artworks created by man. It is believed that modern man first evolved in this part of the world. The beautiful engravings or petroglyphs are not dated, but were etched on rocks over many thousands of years. The earliest depictions seen were created by the San people (Bushmen) who were the first hunters to live in this area up to 30 000 years ago.
