The Museum is a municipal art museum situated in the heart of Nelson Mandela Bay and is committed to serving all sectors of the public through the promotion of art and art history, art research, conservation, publications, educational and recreational activities and exhibitions.

The collections, which reflect the rich diversity of cultural groups in the Eastern Cape Province, are housed in two buildings framing the entrance to St George’s Park and consist of South African art, particularly that of the Eastern Cape, British Art, international printmaking and Oriental art.

The Permanent Collection is supplemented by an active programme of temporary exhibitions which showcase the best that art has to offer in South Africa and from abroad. A variety of education services are offered for the whole community, including guided tours, lectures, films and workshops. The Art Museum shop offers an interesting selection of books, and other items. Entrance: FREE (except events with advertised fees)
