Formerly known as Bethal Museum, now Nomoya Masilela Museum named after one of the youngest local heroes who was killed by security forces during the uprising in Bethal in 1985.
Bethal town is popularly known for its potato farming and potato riots of the 1950’s. The museum displays the history of prominent heroes and heroines of the town dating back from Gert Sibande, Nokuthula Simelane, Nomoya Masilela andother local and provincial heroes who took part in the struggle of Bethal and their involvement during the Anglo-Boer War.
The museum is open to all ages. Guided tours are conducted to the museum as well as to the Cultural Precinct which displays statues ofthe local heroes and monuments of the Anglo-Boer War.
