Since the first store opened in September 2003, 44 Stanley Avenue has
become the destination with a difference. A dilapidated, abandoned
cluster of workshops and garages has been transformed into a space
filled with shops, restaurants and offices.
Ilala Weavers was established some 30 years ago with a clear vision
and objective of revitalising and enhancing the age-old Zulu tradition
of handcrafts, which was in danger of being lost forever.
