The Blokhuis is the most southerly relic of the Anglo-Boer War. It was one of a number of fortified Block Houses built by the British to protect the railway line from Boer commandos.

The Breytenbach Centre was once home to the well-known Breytenbach Family and is now home to Cultural projects. Renovations were completed in early 2007 and it offers visitors the opportunity to view some of the art produced in Wellington. The Centre also offers photography, art and writing classes.

In 1853 Lady Loch, a wooden bridge named after the Governor’s wife, was used for access across the Berg River between Cape Town and Paarl. In 1910 it was replaced with an iron bridge which became the first iron bridge in South Africa. The original wooden pillars are now at the Wellington Museum.
