HUGUENOT MEMORIAL MUSEUM

Franschhoek Town Centre
 MUSEUM

The Huguenot Museum is situated in a most beautiful valley called Franschhoek (“French Corner”). The valley still has many of its original French place names, and half of all visitors to the museum are French speaking. The monument is situated next to the museum and symbolises the Huguenot origin.

The museum displays cover the story that originated in France, the era in which the Huguenots came to the Cape, a list of all the people that came, how they survived and how they contributed to the new country. The Annexe refers to the Khoisan that traded with the Huguenots, the development of the town and various descendants.

The museum consists of a Main Building, an Annexe (where research is being done), a Tea Room and a Curio Shop.
